In 2014, Pancholy was appointed by President Barack Obama to serve on the President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs). As a Commissioner, he co-founded the anti-bullying campaign #ActToChange - designed to meet the unique needs of AAPI youth. Today, acttochange.org is a national 501 (c)(3) nonprofit which Pancholy continues to Chair.

In honor of Act to Change’s 2nd Annual AAPI Day Against Bullying + Hate, cities across the country and nearly 200 partner organizations came together for the the #UnitedWeStand event with guests including Daniel Dae Kim, Lisa Ling, Padma Lakshmi, Tan France, Kal Penn, John Cho, Helen Zia, Ken Jeong and many others.

In response to the uptick in discrimination, hate and bullying against Asian Americans due to Covid-19, Act to Change launched a series of webinars called #CovidConvos moderated by Pancholy and featuring guests such as basketball player Jeremy Lin, actor Randall Park, 19th U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy, Congresswoman Grace Meng and others. In support of Black Lives Matter and to promote unity among communities of color, Act to Change hosted a #SolidarityConvo. And in celebration of LGBTQIA+ Pride and in support for Black Trans Lives Matter, Act to Change hosted #PrideConvos.
